Pete & Andy are back – to hack the oldest conflict in history: Girls Vs Boys and housework

They say that men are from Mars and women are from Venus. Certainly men and women have very different ways of approaching household tasks – particularly when it comes to using appliances. Doing the laundry, loading the dishwasher, stacking the fridge and planning a renovation are some of the tasks that Haier’s new #HaierHomeHack series attempts to tackle with the dry-wit and humour of Pete and Andy and Urzila Carlson.

Pete and Andy took out the People’s Choice Award in the 2013 season of TV3’s The Block NZ and Urzila Carlson is a regular on TV3’s 7Days. Carlson is also a self-confessed DIY expert who is currently renovating her own home, so the competition between the trio is set to be entertaining.

This year the theme of TV3’s The Block NZ is Girls Vs Boys, a theme which continues through the new #HaierHomeHack series of short ‘how to’ videos.

“We know that household chores and general decision making can be points of conflict in the home. The #HaierHomeHack series is a light hearted way of looking at the way we interact with each other, and the appliances in our lives,” says Mark Baillie, General Manager – Distributor New Zealand.

Knowing the huge fan base around The Block NZ, and how people love to share their own experience with renovation and chores around the home, Haier is also providing a platform for Block-a-holics to join the conversation with their own tips and tricks.

“When you take household chores and add to that the friction that can arise between men and women, who can have a different approach, it’s amazing how much debate it can create,” continues Baillie.

“Hacks are a great conversation starter and a fun way of sharing inventive, clever tips on how to make life easier. We hope Kiwis will get online and have some fun with us by sharing their own experiences.”

The #HaierHomeHack videos will be released by Haier via Facebook and YouTube channels across The Block NZ’s runtime.

As partner to The Block NZ: Girls vs Boys, Haier provides all the large appliances for the laundry and kitchen segments of the show.

“We’re really delighted to partner with The Block NZ for a third year running. Haier has been in the New Zealand mark for seven years and is becoming a recognised household name. This, along with our ongoing partnership with Pete and Andy Walker, and the inclusion this year of Urzila Carlson adds to Haier’s brand personality and we hope will broaden the appeal,” says Mark Baillie.

In 2012 Haier acquired Fisher & Paykel, and now sits within the Fisher & Paykel family of brands: Fisher & Paykel, DCS Haier & Elba.
